A good beginner book that covers transistors (and plenty of other stuff) is the excellent "Art of Electronics", which you will see recommended everywhere. Old but still very useful. Specifically transistor orientated, the best book I have seen is: Principles of Transistor Circuits - a very in depth book.

The symbol of the transistor has an arrow on the emitter. If the transistor is a PNP, then the arrow points to the base of the transistor, otherwise it points to the output. Practical transistor 1986 book You can always remember that the arrow points at the N material. These are the symbols: Transistor Operation Understanding the Transistor through a Hydraulic ModelFile Size: 1MB.

Transistor construction []. A BJT consists of three differently doped semiconductor regions, Practical transistor 1986 book emitter region, the base region and the collector region.

These regions are, respectively, p type, n type and p type in a PNP, and n type, p type and n Practical transistor 1986 book in a NPN semiconductor region is connected to a terminal, appropriately labeled: emitter (E), base (B) and collector (C).

The performance of the semi conductor in a particular application and its operation in a manner which will insure reliability are his main considerations.

This book is aimed at this type of practical circuit designer. Theory of Transistors and Other Semiconductor Devices 1. SEMICONDUCTORS Metals and insulators Conduction in metals Metals are filled with electrons. Many of these, typically one or two per atom in the metal, are free to move about throughout the metal.

When an electric field is applied, the electrons move in the direction opposite. This book provides practical guidance and application information when using transistors in electronic and electrical circuit design.

This easy-to-use book covers all transistor types including: Bipolar, Power, RF, Digital, IGBT, Unijunction, FET, JFET, and MOSFETs. This book also has a very comprehensive Glossary, Index, and Equations.5/5(3).

The first solid‐state field‐effect transistor has been fabricated utilizing a film of an organic macromolecule, polythiophene, as a semiconductor.

The device characteristics have been optimized by controlling the doping levels of the polymer. The device is a normally off type and the source (drain) current can be modulated by a factor of 10 2 –10 3 by varying the gate by:   The operating characteristics of a transistor are all found on its data sheet.
